The department of Hindi was established in 1969. Hindi is taught as a common course in UG programmes BA/B.Sc& B.Com/BBA.The department organizes regular classes, remedial coaching, monthly test papers, seminars and interactive activities to help the students perform well in the examinations. Teaching is supported by the effective use of computer and LCD Projector. In order to modernize education seminars and assignments are given the highest priority.Plan for action of the department for the next years is to start Hindi UG & PG programme.
Recent curricular changes
The UG program has been converted into credit and semester system from 2009 admissions onwards. Syllabus of UG programs was revised in 2013 & 2019

2013-14
Organized a Two Day National Seminar funded by UGC on 03-10-2013 & 04-10-2013
2013-2014
Organized a talk on ‘Possibilities of Hindi’ in connection with Hindi Day celebrations on 18 September 2014. Conducted literary competitions and distributed prizes to the winners.
2015-16
Organized a two day National Seminar sponsored by DCE, Govt. of Kerala on “Woman in Contemporary Hindi Literature“ on 8th& 9th December 2015
2017-18
Organized a two day National Seminar on “Contemporary Hindi Fiction“ on 16th& 17th November 2017. The program was sponsored by the Directorate of Collegiate Education, Govt. of Kerala.
