Student profile
a. Qualification: Though anyone with a pass in the higher secondary examination is eligible to apply for B.Com, the presence of commerce in indexing virtually delimits the program to those who pursue business studies at the previous level. For BBA, the aggregate of the higher secondary examination is the rank mark and thus is truly open to everyone. B.Com or BBA is the qualification to join M.Com.

Major Activities and Achievements
The success made by Ms. Vidya, an NCC cadet from the 6th semester BBA in the Parajumping trial held at Agra is an important milestone in the achievements of the department. She is the pride of the department and that of the college as well.
This year the department conducted a two day national seminar utilising the fund sanctioned by the government of Kerala. It was co-ordinated by Smt. K. Rema, Assistant Professor of the department. The seminar was a great success. Further, It has carried out Competence Development Programme for the M. Com students. It was a practical training Spreadsheet and Database Applications. It was also co-ordinated by Smt. K. Rema. We have conducted the annual Punnassery memorial talk this year also which was co-ordinated by Dr N. K. Babu, Assistant Professor. All students of the eight classes have been part thereof. The class-room PTA was held on time. As much as 286 parents have joined us in the meeting. It was definitely a very good event where, very creative discussions and decisions were made in the meeting.
A three day tour programme was organized for the senior semester batches of both B.Com and BBA to Mysore and Ooty. It was co-ordinated by Sri C. V. Prasad, Assistant Professor. The department has celebrated the Commerce Association Day of this year very splendidly within the permissible limits. In addition to this, the department has undertaken an extension programme also. It was a programme to give various awareness programme and training to the members of the Kudumbasree units of Pattambi Municipality. It was co-ordinated by Smt. P. P. Indu, Assistant Professor of the department. The programme was very successful. Often, the department hosts the centralized valuation camps of the university of Calicut. If the college does not have a CV camp, the faculty members join the nearby camps.
Plan for action of the department for the next five years:
The aim of the department as of now is to raise it into the status of a research center with all the facilities. The department is augmenting physical facilities with this target in view. Two add-on courses, long and short term training for CA, coaching for NET and more research output are other items on the card.
