About the department

The Department of Zoology was established in 1969 as part of the science courses offered at the erstwhile Pre-Degree level. The B.Sc. Programme was introduced in 1977, followed by the launch of the M.Sc. Programme with Entomology as a specialisation in 2018. The department was upgraded to a Research Centre in 2020.

At present, the department has seven faculty members and two non-teaching staff. About 75% of the permanent faculty hold doctoral degrees, and three faculty members are recognised Research Guides of the University of Calicut. With a dedicated and enthusiastic team, the department continues to make significant progress in both academic excellence and research output.
