The department was established in 1966 and in 1990 it became part of English- History Double Major UG Programme.There are two sanctioned teaching posts in this department. At present two teachers are working here.Dr. K. Rajan, Professor, is the Head of the Department. He is a research supervisor also affiliated to the Post Graduate and Research Department of Govt. Victoria College, Palakkad under university of Calicut.One research scholar is pursuing Ph. D under his guideship. Dr. Sudheerkumar. P, Associate Professor is the other teacher of the department. He also is a research supervisor registerred with the Post Graduate and Research Department, Govt. Arts and Science College, Meenchanda, Calicut under University of Calicut.Currently three research scholars are puruing Ph. D under his guidance.The Double Major programme is linked with English Department and hence English-History Double Major Programme.
In 2024 the Double Major programme was renamed as English- History Double Major Honours Programme either in English or History as part of Four Year UG Programme.
