THEATRE OF CONVERGENCE

A project which provides a space to converge all the potentials of students was the spirit behind theatre club when it is started in 2012.That was an attempt to bring students to more creativity and to more academics. In the present chaos surrounding society, it is essential to keep some tools to navigate life’s tests and help them understand their role in building a new worldcivilisation. In brief it was an attempt to politicise and historicise the students.

The following mini thesis is a project proposal for the formation of a Drama project called Theatre of convergence.Theatre of convergence aims to help students to theinternalizationofmoralsandthroughtherealizationoftheirpolitical and historical identity and their oneness withthe entirehuman race.

There is long history of theatre of social revolution in this area, starting from VT BHATTATHIRIPPADYU it has a long history. College has its own theatre history in 80s related with women’s theatre in Kerala and which is considered as the first initiative in that direction.

Manifestation ofa new phase of theatre in college completely connected with the starting of       poetry carnival,a national event which started in 2014.The form, structure and ideological standpoints derived from the structure of poetry carnival. The project aimed to produce dramas from internal resourcesonly. Oneessential precondition was to take minimum hours for rehearsal so that studentswon’t miss their classes.

The project will utilize three mutually reinforcingcomponents.Thefirstcomponentwillbethedramaticcomponent, thesecondcomponent will be a political historical education component and the third component will be areinforcing students component. Many teachers  and hundreds of studentsare supposed to run the project. It was decided that anevery year long drama project would be organized with carnival
