The department of economics was started in the year 1966 and has been upgraded to a post graduate department in the year 1979 and a research department in the year 2023. It offers the Bachelor (Honours), Masters(With specialisation in Fiscal Economics, Business Economics and Research Methodology and Computer Applications) and the PhD Degree programmes of the University of Calicut with state-of-the-art academic infrastructure. The department is having active involvement and interactions with the regional economy and society.
