Abstract
സ്ഥലത്തെയും ഇടങ്ങളെയും സംബന്ധിച്ച പുതിയ കണ്ടെത്തലുകൾ ഉത്തരാധുനിക നോവൽരചനകളെ പുതിയ വീക്ഷണക്കോണിലൂടെ വിലയിരുത്താൻ സഹായകരമായിട്ടുണ്ട്. അംബികാസുതൻ മാങ്ങാടിന്റെ രചനകളിൽ ആവർ ത്തിച്ചുവരുന്ന പ്രമേയമാണ് പരിസ്ഥിതിക്കുനേരെയുള്ള കടന്നുകയറ്റം. മൂലധനവാദവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട അധിനിവേശ ങ്ങൾ പ്രാന്തവത്കൃതജനജീവിതത്തിനും നാടോടിയും ഗ്രാമീണവുമായ സംസ്കാരത്തിനും ഭീഷണിയായിത്തീരുന്നതി നെപ്പറ്റി പല ആഖ്യാനങ്ങളും വന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. പ്രകൃതിയെ അതിന്റെ തനിമയിൽ നിലനിർത്താനുള്ള കാല്പനികമായ ആഹ്വാനമല്ല, വികലമായ വികസനസങ്കല്പങ്ങളും നയവൈകല്യങ്ങളും ഒരു ജനതയുടെ ജീവിതോപാധികളിലേക്ക് കടന്നുകയറി അവരെ നിത്യമായ അലച്ചിലിലേക്ക് തള്ളിവിടുകയാണ് ചെയ്യുന്നതെന്ന് ‘മരക്കാപ്പിലെ തെയ്യങ്ങളി’ലെ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളുടെ വ്യാവഹാരിക ഇടങ്ങളെപ്പറ്റിയുള്ള അന്വേഷണം തെളിയിക്കുന്നു.
