E. D. Club

With a view to meeting the present challenges in the unemployment problems prevailing in the liberalised, privatized and globalised economy and also to creating a new entrepreneur trend and culture in the State of Kerala, the Department of Industries, Govt. of Kerala, has launched  the Entrepreneurship Development Clubs in colleges. The major objective of the club is to motivate the members to venture into industrial activity to change the negative mindset and attitude prevailing in the State on initiating or taking up entrepreneurship as a career, to educating the members on various incentives offered by various financial agencies like the development banks and other promotional agencies and to guiding the members on how to formulate project ideas and plans.

Sree Neelakanta Govt. Sanskrit College, Pattambi also joined this stream of the Govt. of Kerala by establishing the Entrepreneurship Development Club (which is known as the EDD Club) in the academic year 2003-’04. After formation, the ED club has conducted a series of entrepreneurial awareness programme inside and outside the College. The  ED Club consists of 25 student members  from various departments. College Principal, and Heads of the two Post Graduate Departments of Commerce & Management Studies and Economics are the ex-officio Patrons of the Club.

REPORT ON THE ACTIVITIES OF ED CLUB FOR THE YEAR 2016

 

ED Club was started in the year 2003 in the College and is carried out some activity, but could not continue due to paucity of funds.  Due to sincere and earnest effort, the college was able to re-register the ED Club in the year 2015.  ED Club was formed to imbibe the culture of entrepreneurship development to the students of the College so that with proper guidance and training, they can start their own enterprises along with studies and that will supplement their income and will ease the difficulties in meeting the expenses for studies.

ED Club was formed this year with ED Club Co-ordinator. P.Sreeja, Assistant Professor and 97 students of various departments of this College are members.  Then re registered with DIC, Palakkad

PROGRAMME 1: ONE DAY AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT

            The inauguration of the programme of ED Club was held on Friday 30th September 2016 at College Seminar Hall.  The inaugural function was from 9.30 am to 10.00 am.  99 students, 20 staff members, and one resource person have attended the function.  Welcome Speech was delivered by Club Co-ordinator, P. Sreeja, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce followed by the Presidential Address by Dr. Haridas P, In-charge Principal of the College.  The Programme was inaugurated by Sri. K. Hareesh, Asst. Professor in Mechanical Engineering, Vidya Academy of Science & Technology, Thrissur.  The inaugural speech was useful to the students as the same enlightened them about various aspects of entrepreneurship development.  Felicitations were offered by Sri. Punnoose Jacob, Vice Principal and Head of the Department of Commerce .  Vote of Thanks was given by ED Club Student Coordinator, Kumari. Mini M P, 6th Semester  B.Com.

Session I:

            After tea break, the first session began at 10.15 a.m. and ended at 12.30  pm.  This session was moderated by Smt. Indu P.P., Asst. Professor, Dept. of commerce.  The topic was ‘Scope of Entrepreneurship Development’.  Sri. K. Hareesh, Asst. Professor in Mechanical Engineering, Vidya Academy of Science & Technology, Thrissur  has conducted the session.  The same was fruitful and the students were given awareness about making various products and scope of sales for their products.  The students got many of their doubts clarified through discussion with resource person.

Session II:

The Next session was started at 1.30 p.m and concluded at 3.30 p.m.  Students were encouraged to put their ideas into practice as entrepreneur. Students formed small groups and displayed their skills in entrepreneurship under the guidance of resource person, Some students who gave an account of the programme being held in the college, praised the entire programmed.  The session concluded with the vote of thanks by ED Club Member, Kum. Shibila K.P, V Semester BBA.

 

PROGRAMME II

FOOD FEST – KREATIVA 2016 ( Creation of Students)  on 26.10.2016

Inaugural Session:

The inaugural session of the Food fest was held from 10 am to 10.45 a.m at the college Seminar Hall on 26.10.2016. Around all staff & students and even outsiders whole heartedly co-operated and attended in this function.  The programme began with the prayer.  Welcome Speech was delivered by Club Coordinator, Sreeja P,  Asst Professor, Dept. of Commerce, Presidential address was given by Prof. Punnoose Jacob, Vice Principal and Head of the Department of Commerce.  The Food fest was inaugurated by Smt. P.N. Anithakumari, Principal of the college. Kum.Mini M.P, ED Club Student Coordinator, 6th Semester  B.Com. has made  first sale of the products to Prof. Punnoose Jacob,. Sooraj M.P., Commerce Association Secretary offered felicitations.  Kumari Athira V, ED club member rendered vote of thanks.

Food Fest began at 10.45 am.  There were 57 stalls like paper biriyani, chicken fry, banan fry, Chappathi, variety dosas, bread omlet, parippuvada, uzhunnu vada etc. As a gesture, lime juice and tea were served free of cost. Food fest was a great success and enjoyed by all participants, students, teachers, public etc.  They had a very good opinion about the Food fest. The active participation of students in the production of these products have given them an idea on ‘how to earn while learn’ and how to become successful entrepreneurs.    This will encouraged the students to enter into entrepreneurship venture into future.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON 23.11.2016

Inaugural Session

The inauguration of the programme of ED Club was held on Wednesday 23rd November 2016 at College Seminar Hall.  The inaugural function was from 10 am to 10.40 am.  90 students, 14 staff members, 3 DIC officials and one successful entrepreneur have attended the function.  Welcome Speech was delivered by Club Co-ordinator, P. Sreeja, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce followed by the Presidential Address by Sri.C. D. Dileep,In-charge Principal of the College.  The Club was inaugurated by Sri. Kammukutty Edathol, block Panchayath President, Pattambi.  The inaugural speech was useful to the students as the same enlightened them about various aspects of entrepreneurship development.  Felicitations were offered by Sri. Aswin P.P., Industrial Officer, Pattambi, Sri. Punnoose Jacob, Vice Principal and Head of the Department of Commerce, ,Sri P. Manikandan, Chairman College Union.  Vote of Thanks was given by ED Club Student Coordinator, Kumari. Mini V.P 6th Semester  B.Com.

Basheer, ADIO, Taluk Industrial Officer, Ottappalam has conducted the session.  The same was fruitful and the students were given awareness about making various products and scope of sales for their products.  The students got many of their doubts clarified through discussion with resource person.  Some students gave feedback about the class which was excellent as per their opinion.  The Session was concluded with the vote of thanks by ED Club student coordinator, Vishu K.V 6th Semester BBA

 

Session II:

The Next session was started at 12.05 p.m and concluded at 1.45 p.m.  Sri. Gafoor, P, Proprietor, Seven star supermarket P.Ltd, Pattambi (alumni of the college)
who is a successful entrepreneur held discussion with the students regarding his experience in the business sector and how he came out successfully.  He was introduced by Sri. Gireesh VP, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Commerce.  The purpose of this session was to increase the entrepreneurial traits and qualities and to share the experience of a successful entrepreneur with the students.  The session was interactive due to which the students were able to clear their doubts in the practical aspects.  Some students who gave an account of the programme being held  in the college, praised the entire programmed.  The session concluded with the vote of thanks by ED Club Member, Sri. Krishnadas M.B., IV Sem. B.com

PROGRAMME IV

REPORT ON THE INTER-DEPARTMENTAL COMPETITION FOR SKILL  DEVELOPMENT

 

The Seminar and discussion may give a theoretical assignment of the activities but the practical programme for skill development is an essential part to learn an activity thoroughly. while doing independently, the ED club arranged 3 days Inter-departmental programme for students such as Case Study Presentation of successful entrepreneur, Business quiz,  Picture Identification contest, Business Plan competition, Best Marketing Manager, Treasure Hunt, Origami, Paper bag making competition etc.

Inaugural Session: (07.12.2016)

The Inaugural Session of the inter-departmental competition held on 07.12.2016 at 10 am at the College Auditorium.  Inaugural session was attended by 290 students, and 42 teachers.  The function began with a prayer followed by welcome speech of Club Coordinator, Sreeja P, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Commerce.  The function was inaugurated by Smt. P.N. Anithakumari, Principal of the College and the Presidential address was given by Prof. Punnoose Jacob, Vice Principal and Head of the Department of Commerce, Felicitation was offered by Smt.P.K. Prasanna, P.T.A Secretary, Sooraj M.P, Secretary, Commerce Association .  Vote of thanks was rendered by ED Club Student Co-ordinatorr, Vishnu K.V. 6th Semester BBA.

Session I

The first session of the  programme began at 10 am to 12.30 pm.  The  session was Case study presentation of successful entrepreneurs . There were 11 groups who presented case study of national and regional entrepreneurs and same was evaluated by 3 judges viz Dr. N.K. Babu, Asst. Professor of commerce, Dr. Prathiba, Asst. Professor in Hindi, Sri C. Unnikrishnan, Asst. Professor of Commerce and gave awards to the deserving groups.

 

Session II

The secondSession started at 1.30 p.m.  The Programme was Business quiz Competition.  There were 35 groups participated in different disciplines.  After Preliminary round, 5 groups were selected for final round of quiz.  This competition was anchored by Sri. K. Hareesh, Asst. Professor in Mechanical Engineering, Vidya Academy of Science & Technology, Thrissur and the winner was emerged. The session was concluded at 430 p.m

II day (08.12.2016)   Session III

The morning session of the day started at 9.30 am and ended at 10.30 a.m.  The students from various departments of the college participated.  A situation based picture was given for the contest and the students were asked to write about the same.  Students who wrote maximum positives was adjudged winner.

 

Session IV

 

The next session of the day started at 10.30 am and ended at 11.30 a.m in which 22 students participated and made paper bags.  The winners were chased as per the quality of the bags made by them.

Session V

The third session day of the competion was Origami, held between 11.30a.m. to 12.30 p.m.in which 23 students participated.  They prepared creative works with the paper as they liked. Winner were selected from these participants.

Session VI

After lunch break, Adzap competition (Advertisement Skit) was given in which students were shown innovative products and a students were asked to prepare catchy advertisement slogan and they are also advised to show their act about the same..  Winners were selected based on the programme.

III day (09.12.2016) Session VII

Next Competition was held the best marketing manager.  The students were given some products and the person who sold the same at the highest vale as adjudged the Best marketing manager.

 

 

 

 

Session VIII

Business Plan Competition was held between 10.30am to 12.30 p.m.in which students were asked to prepare business plan for making innovative products or rendering services.  Students were prepared and presented the same, the best plan was adjudged winner by the judges.

Session IX (Valedictory Session)

The Valedictory Session started at 1.30 p.m. The inauguration of the session was held on 9th December 2016 at Auditorium of the College.  90 students, 14 staff members, and successful entrepreneur have attended the function.  Welcome Speech was delivered by Club Co-ordinator, P. Sreeja, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce followed by the Presidential Address by the former ED club co-ordinator, Dr. N.K. Babu, Assistant Professor in commerce.  The Programme was inaugurated by Sri. Babu Kottayil, President, Kerala Vyabari Vivasayi Yekopana Samithi, Pattambi Unit.  The inaugural speech was useful to the students as the same enlightened and motivated by the successful stories of entrepreneur and they expressed their happiness. Felicitations were offered by Dr. P. Haridasan, Associate Professor in Zoology, Smt. Rema K, Asst. Professor in commerce, Sri. Pramod A, Asst. Professor in commerce, Sri. Manikandan P., chairman, College Union.  Sri. Babu Kottayil distributed prizes to the winners of all competitions.  Some students gave feedback that the programme was excellent in conduct and organization.  Vote of Thanks was given by ED Club Student Coordinator, Kumari. Mini M.P.,6th Semester  B.Com.  The programme ended at 4.30 p.m.

PROGRAMME V: (INDUSTRIAL VISIT)

On 18.02.2017, as a part of Industrial Visit 55 ED Club Members and two teachers visited various industries in KINFRA Integrated Industrial & Textile Park,Park Monitoring Hub, Kinfra Square, Menon Para Road, Kanjikkode East PO, Palakkad.  We reached there by 10.30 am and left industry by 4 pm. We had come across the functions of various industries.

ACTIVITY REPORT OF ED CLUB FOR THE YEAR 2017 – 18

Ms. P.Sreeja, Assistant Professor of Commerce, being its Co-ordinator. Mr. Subeesh P and Miss Sreelakshmi E P, 6th Semester B.Com and BBA respectively

are the student co-ordinators of the club. As many as 120 students belonging to different departments have registered as members of ED Club.

 

ACTIVITIES DURING THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2017-18

⚫ On 17th October 2017, One day Awareness Programme on Entrepreneurial Development was made by Sri Dileep K, Assistant Professor, Department of Production Engineering, Vidya Academy of Science & Technology, Thrissur. The students were given awareness of entrepreneurial activities and scope of entrepreneurship among the students. The students got many of their doubts clarified through discussion with resource persons. The purpose of this session was to increase the entrepreneurial traits and qualities and to share the experience of a successful entrepreneur with the students.

 

⚫ The Club arranged a Food Fest – Kreativa – 18 on 17.01.2018. There were department wise 62 stalls of like biriyani, chicken fry, banana fry, Chappathi, variety dosas, bread omlet, Parippuvada, Uzhunnu vada etc. Food fest was a great success and enjoyed by all participants, students, teachers, public etc. They had a very good opinion about the Food fest. The active participation of students in the production of these products have given them an idea on’ how to earn while learn’ and how to become successful entrepreneurs. This will encouraged te students to enter into entrepreneurial venture into future.

⚫ The ED Club arranged two day Inter-departmental Programme (from 31.01.2018 to 01.02.2018) for students such as Case Study Presentation of Successful Entrepreneur, Business quiz, Picture Identification Contest, Business Plan Competition, Best Marketing Manager, Treasure Hunt, Origami, aper bag making Competition etc. The function was inaugurated by Dr. Sheela S, Principal of the College. As much as 231 number of students from different departments have participated in this programme.

⚫ The inauguration of the Valedictory Session was held on Ist February 2018 at Seminar Hall of the College. 110 students, 14 staff members and successful entrepreneur have attended the function. Welcome Speech was delivered by Club Co-ordinator, P. Sreeja, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce.The Programme was inaugurated by Sri Abdul Jabbar, President, Kerala Vyabari Vivasayi Yekopana Samithi, Pattambi unit and the Principal distributed prizes to the winners of all competitions. Some students gave feedback that the programme was excellent.

⚫ On10th February 2018, as a part of Industrial Visit 50 ED Club members and two teachers visited various industries in Craft Village, Iringal, Kozhikode. They reached there by 10.30 am and left industry by 4 pm. The had come across the functions of various industries.

⚫ In February 2018, ED Club members bought raw materials for making files and thy made 200 files and sold to departments. While doing this, they learned how to make profit by doing small business like fie making

⚫ The members of ED Club participated various intercollegiate competition in connection with Quiz Competition, Idea plan competition, treasure hunt at St. Thomas College, Thrissur and Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur.

⚫Exhibition

The Entrepreneurship Development Club of the College has also played vital role in the programme. Programme began at 10.30am on 15th February 2018.I.e., after the inaugural session. Charts, Photos, quotes and slogans capble propagate the concept of ‘Entrepreneurship’ among the students and community as a whole were exhibited and demonstrated in the Programme. Moreover, it conducted exhibitions of various products made by the ED Club members and other students, It has also arranged a food court. In the exhibition, thee were altogether 17 stalls consisting of products including paper bags, paper files, paper pens, umbrellas, chalks, agarbatties, candles, mats, craft items, ornaments, glass paintings, dress designing, variety bags, flower pots, variety baskets, food items etc in the stalls. Students could exchange knowledge and idea on how to produce, the products they exhibited. Many visitors from outside including business persons have participated in the programme and visited the stalls. All these encouraged both insiders and outsiders of the college.

PROGRAMME II : TRAINING PROGRAMME ON SKILL DEVELOPMENT

Inaugural Session:

The inaugural session of the the programme was held from 10 am to 10.45 a.m at the college Seminar Hall on 14.11.2019. Around all staff & students and whole heartedly co-operated and attended in this function. The programme began with the prayer. Welcome Speech was delivered by Club Coordinator, Sreeja P, Asst Professor, Dept. of Commerce, Presidential address was given by Smt. Rema K, Assistant professor, Department of Commerce. The Programme was inaugurated by Smt. P. K., Prasanna In-charge Principal of the college. Dr Thanuja, P.T.A Secretary offered felicitations. Kumari Smrithi K, ED club Co-ordinator rendered vote of thanks.

Session
The training was given by specialized trainers Ms. Reshma N and Shobika P, Students of S3 BBA. The students were trained to make different products such as various flowers and flower pots, Christmas card, pen making, File making, Agarbathi etc. The Students were very interested to make different products on their creativity . The Purpose of the Programme was to increase the entrepreneurial traits and qualities and to share how to make the products to the needy persons.

PROGRAMME III : EXHIBITION (Kreativa 2K19)

On 15th November 2019, an Exhibition of the products made on the previous day and other products made by students was conducted and products were sold. The products were different and varieties and were liked by the viewers. Exhibition was a great success and enjoyed by all participants, students, teachers, public etc. They had a very good opinion about the exhibition. The active participation of students in the production of these products have given them an idea on ‘how to earn while learn’ and how to become successful entrepreneurs. This will encouraged the students to enter into entrepreneurship venture into future.
