Career Guidance

The Career Guidance & Placement Cell is constituted as per the direction of the DCE, Government of Kerala. It is exclusively designed for providing multifarious career and course guidance services for students at all levels. It imparts training and arranges special programmes to different groups of students with different requirements, thereby improving the efficiency and strength of the human resource potential of the students.  The cell is meant to address the issue of motivation, goal setting and planning of the students in their career advancements. It offers rigorous and specific coaching for the UGC-NET examination, thereby opening the avenues of teaching and research to its students. There is a galaxy of eminent experts as consultants and resource persons for the cell. It is continuously surveying the employment market for identifying the employment opportunities for its students. Dr.Manoj T.P. is in charge of the cell

Eureka Forbs, Cochin,conducted the Campus interview for different postson 06-03-2015. The company recruitment members, Mr. Sujith &Mr. Minraj     gave one hour presentation from 11 am to 12 noon about the company and the opportunities in the company for bachelor degree students.  They started interview immediately after the presentation and interactive session with the students.Eighty students participated in the campus interview and ten students got selected.

Program 2 – Quiz competition

As a part of career guidance we arranged “Quiz competition” for the students on 9/02/2015 in the college auditorium from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm. Thirty students participated in the program, Anil Kumar, II sem B.com  won first prize (rupees one thousand only) and Naseeba VI Sem. Economics won the second prize (rupees five hundred only).

Program 3 – UGC NET coaching

Career guidance cell conducted UGC/NET coaching for the Post graduate students on 16/12/2015 and on 2/05/2016. The session started at 10 am in the New seminar Hall, SNGS college. The retired Prof. Thomas, from Dept. of Commers, Govt. College, Kuttanalloor, Kerala, discussed three important topics like Logical reasoning (coding and decoding and number series), Data interpretation and Higher education. In the first session from 10 am to 12.30 pm, Prof. Thomas discussed the logical reasoning by solving the problems in the class room. In the second session from 1.30 pm to 4.00 pm Prof. Thomas spent more time to discuss the data interpretation and Higher education. 132 students participated in this coachingprogram with active interaction with the speaker.

Program4 – UGC NET coaching

Retired professor, Ravindranath from Govt. Victoria college, gave UGC NET coaching exclusively for M.Sc. Chemistry students on 02/05/2016. All the M.Sc chemistry students participated the coaching class.

Program5 – UGC NET coaching

Dr. Vivek P.J Asst. Professor, Dept. of Botany SNGS College, Pattambi and Dr. Resmi M.S, Asst. Professor, Dept. of botany SNGS College, Pattambigave UGC NET coaching exclusively for M.Sc. Botany students on 16/01/2016 and 23/01/2016. All the M.Sc botany students participated the coaching class.

Program6- Career Advancement Training

As a part of career guidance we have arranged “Career Advancement Training” for the bachelor degree students on 19/1/2016 in the auditorium of the SNGS College Pattambi. Mr. Vivek and Mrs. Abhiraami from Career Advancement Training, Coimbatore delivered lectures on ‘How to face interview’, Stress management, thinking skills – lateral and creativity – and Career guidance. The session started at 10.30 am and finished by 4.00 pm with small lunch break. 71 students participated in the “Career Advancement Training” with very enthusiastic interaction with the speakers.

Program7 – Edu Expo’16

Hundred students participated in the Edu Expo’16 organized by Microtec Events, Trichur at Surya Resmi Convention Centre, Palakkad on 21/1/2016. During this program the students could participate in campus placement, motivational speech by Dr. Arun Kumar, Asst. Professor, Govt. Victoria College, Kerala. Apart from this program they could participate in ‘MBA journey’ which is aprogram of International Education Expo of Business schools. The progamme “INTER-ACT” in the same Edu Expo’16 was also useful for the participated students. Career guidance cell arranged two buses for the students to participate the program at Surya Resmi Conventional Centre, Palakkad. The buses started from the college for Edu Expo’16 with students at 10 am and reached the college at 4.30 pm. Dr. Manoj T. P and Mr. Sunny from the college accompanied the students.

Program8 – Job fair – 2016 IMT Campus Pottore, Trichur.

Eight students from our college participated in the Job fair organized by IMT in their Campus Pottore, Trichur on 20/2/2016. In this Job Fair various national and international companies interviewed the students. The Job fair was a different experience to the students. The career guidance financially supported the transportation of the Job fair participated students.

Program9 –Campus Placement

Embics Technologies Pvt Ltd, Jubilee Junction, Perinthalmanna, Kerala.

Career guidance cell arranged pre-placement talk by Embics Technologies Pvt Ltd on 14/3/2016 in the new seminar hall, SNGS College. Twenty students participated the pre-placement talk in the college.

Program11 –Career guidance cell of the college arranged a program on 23/09/2016on Assessment of the students, counseling and training to the students to get the right job.Mr. Shameer (Business development managerEmployabilityCentre,Palakkad), Mrs. Mangal (Head,EmployabilityCentre,Palakkad) Mrs. Sruthi (trainer EmployabilityCentre,Palakkad) from DistrictEmploymentExchange, Palakkad,made aware about the different job opportunities in different fields, how to get the right job, etc. The interactive session continued for the entire day. Since it is a government program, arrangements were made for the registration at EmployabilityCentre, Palakkad. 30 students registered for jobs in private sector. The registered students will get free certified training program from DistrictEmploymentExchange, Palakkad,EmployabilityCentre.

Program12–Career guidance cell financially supported students for the participation of Job Fair in association with DistrictEmploymentExchange, Palakkad,EmployabilityCentre at Victoria college, Palakkad.

Program13 –Career guidance cell helped the students to participate the Seminar on Career prospects in clinical research arranged by the Kaushal Kendra– Kerala Academy for Skill Excellence (KASE) Koottanad, Palakkad on 29/03/2016. Fourteen students from different departments of the college could participate in the program. The aim of the programwas to help the youth realize their career aptitude through the best global assessment tools and provides guidelines for them to choose the course that is bestsuited for them after taking into consideration their socio – economic educationaland backgrounds.

Program14 – Career guidance cell organized a one day orientation programto prepare students for civil service examination on 18/8/2016. Sixty eight students participated the awareness program.Mr. Faris (the director)Mr. Ranjith (the faculty co-ordinator) and Mr. Vishnu, Mr. Ismail (faculties)and Mr. Jishnu the event co-ordinator from Central academy of civil service training Pattambi, werethe resource persons for the program in the college. They delivered awareness class and clarified the doubts on civil service examination and related topics.

Program 15 – Career guidance cell organized a training programfor civil service examination on 28/10/2016 AN. Mr. Faris (the director) Mr. Ranjith (the faculty co-ordinator) and Mr. Vishnu, Mr. Ismail (faculties) and Mr. Jishnu the event co-ordinator from Central academy of civil service training Pattambi, were the resource personsfor the program in the college. The class was on how to prepare for civil service examination, logical reasoning, data interpretation and tips to get the good score etc. Fifty Nine students from the college very actively participated in the program.

Program 16 –Career guidance cell of the college arranged a second programabout assessment of the students, counseling and training to the students to get right job in association withDistrictEmploymentExchange, Palakkad. Mr. Shameer (Business development manager), Mrs. Mangal (centre head of Palakkad) Mrs. Sruthi (trainer Palakkad) from DistrictEmploymentExchange, Palakkad,EmployabilityCentre interacted with the  college students and made them aware about the different job opportunities in different fields, how to get the right job, etc. The training program included self-introduction, aptitude test, logical reasoning etc.Twenty nine students participated in the first part of the training program on 28/10/2016 FN.
